High Cliff State Park

I always hear the phrase ‘Rain is good luck on your wedding day’, and boy did that hold true for Hannah and Mitchell. These two said their vows at the top of High Cliff State Park with a light drizzle surrounding the pavilion, and by the time we were ready for pictures the rain stopped! We were able to capture some stunning photos at the park with the dramatic skies playing off the horizon to the lake. Mitchell even had his first opportunity to be chivalrous as he carried his new bride across a muddy puddle so we could get some gorgeous shots on an overlook.

One of the most special moments of their day was when they took a couple minutes before their ceremony to read letters they wrote to each other. They didn’t want to see each other, so they stood around a corner and held hands while reading their love notes. I think this is such a great option if you don’t want a first look. It’s a perfect opportunity to release a lot of those pre-ceremony jitters and have a quiet moment together without seeing one another before the big reveal in the aisle.

Hannah also chose to have a first look with her dad, which always tugs at my heartstrings. It brings me back to my own wedding day when I made my stand there and wait for me to cry it out (happy tears of course) before eventually tapping him on the shoulder. It’s always such a special moment to see the look on dad’s face as he embraces his little girl.

Shout out to these amazing vendors:
